
On Wednesday, 29 October 2025, the Vegiterraneo programme organised a press event at the Kostas Mansion restaurant in Bucharest, Romania. The event was the first activity of the programme’s three year-duration, which began in Romania, that was held in parallel with the Indagra Food trade fair.
Among the guests who attended the event were journalists, influencers, opinion leaders and professionals of the agri-food sector. Attendees had the opportunity to learn more about the programme, about the programme’s goals and activities as well as about the benefits of the consumption of European fruits and vegetables.
Following a warm welcome, the keynote speakers took the floor:
- Mr Konstantinos Dikaros, Counsellor for Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Embassy of Greece in Bucharest, presented information on the vegetables that are imported in Romania and underlined the importance of the origin and quality of European fruits and vegetables.
- Ioanna Siafara, Project Manager of the Implementing Body Novacert, referred to the programme’s goals and activities.
- Nikos Triantafyllopoulos, the representative of the Agricultural Cooperative “Anatoli” which is also the programme’s coordinator, speaking on behalf of all the cooperatives that are partners of the Vegiterraneo programme, analysed the methods with which fruits and vegetables are produced in Greece and exported to Europe, noting in particular their quality and safety.
- Andreea Ioniță, a nutrition specialist, using scientific data, presented the health benefits that are linked to the consumption of fruits and vegetables. She also stressed the need for people in Romania to increase their consumption of fruits and vegetables in order to meet the daily intake of 400 grams that is prescribed for adults, as recommended by the World Health Organisation.
Following the keynote speakers, a dinner was held the menu of which included vegetable-based dishes, as well as a fruit-based dessert. Finally, the attendees received the press kit of the Vegiterraneo programme (cotton bag, t-shirt, key ring, thermal bag, usb stick), as well as the brochure.
